A good centre back suited to the English game.

In which case, I honestly feel sorry for you. There's so much more to it that you've closed your mind to.

Winning and upsetting people at the same time is surely no bad thing?

Nobody remembers the ones who achieve nothing. Winners, particularly those who win by whichever means necessary are universally loathed (e.g. Fergies United, Mourinho's Chelsea)

Make of that what you will

They've just made a film about Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards.

I'd throw in 'Cool Runnings' here too.

Matt Le Tissier didn't win a whole lot throughout his career.

Just sayin'...

Remembers is probably bad wording. But you've pretty much accentuated my point. The people you've listed were / are popular but never won anything so what's the point?

As few of us are 'winners', what's the point of most of us? Existentialism baby, it's a bitch.

John Terry is the answer to many achievement-related quiz questions.

Matthew Le Tissier only one. And it isn't "Who would you rather have playing for your life, Terry or Le Tissier?"

But it is the answer to "Who would you rather watch play football?".
